What You'll Need

There are a few things you may need to consider in order for our meetings to be efficient and productive.

Most importantly, you will need to have an instrument. An acoustic piano that is in tune and in good working condition is ideal, but electric pianos and keyboards are good too. Although acoustic pianos can be very expensive, you don’t need to spend a fortune to get started… a couple thousand dollars will buy a decent acoustic piano or you can get a sufficient keyboard for a few hundred dollars. Contact me if you have questions about your instrument or an instrument you are considering purchasing.

You may also need to purchase some books or sheet music. After we meet and discuss your goals, I will be able to suggest what materials to consider and where you can get them. In addition, I often ask students to have a metronome. A good metronome shouldn't cost more than twenty or thirty dollars and there are many good metronome apps available now at little or no cost.

Last, but certainly not least important, is having your piano or keyboard located somewhere with little to no distraction during lessons and practicing. Having a place where you aren't bothered by family members, pets, or other distractions is important for keeping focused and making progress.
